Hotel at Avalon is a grand reimagining of resort environments, where guests are immersed in the timeless art of living well. A pinnacle within the luxurious live-work-play community of Avalon, The Hotel poignantly bookends an urban development comprised of 5-Star Restaurants, Entertainment Venues, and Destination Retail. Graceful and modern interiors paired with subtle Southern influences offer a timeless luxury and nod to a new era of Southern hospitality.
Three-hundred and thirty (330) stylish guestrooms welcome guests in elegant Southern style, while sophisticated design elements offer comfort and indulgence throughout the public spaces. Keeping with Southern tradition, the entry vestibule offers a leisurely ‘pause’ on one of its two front porch swings, while the living walls act as a refreshing backdrop juxtaposed with the urban landscape outside.
Our SolutionVivianne Vianna at CD+M was tasked with an extremely challenging application, to illuminate the 20-foot-tall, living green walls, in the hotel entrance. The landscape specialists asked for 150 foot-candles average illumination at the center of the green walls, challenging Vivianne with finding a fixture that could deliver a high output, outstanding performance, while being discreet and aesthetically pleasing. Historically, this could only be achieved with bulky floodlights. CD+M knew that Vice products could answer such challenge. Bold provided lighting calculations proving the Vice U6 Linear In-ground Wallwasher, combined with the ceiling mounted L6 Linear Wallwasher, would achieve the required outcome. The result was a beautifully lit green wall with discreet 2” wide aperture linear profiles. Four years after the installation, the green walls are beautifully thriving under the care of Vice’s L6 and U6 Wallwashers.
